Can children develop pattern baldness prepuberty ?

Yes on very rare occasions. There is an condition called Infantile geroderma (Variot and Cailleau's syndrome) where children age very rapidly. The skin of these children goes through all the stages of life from birth to old age in a very short space of time. Their skin becomes wrinkled and loose and boys develop a distinctive male pattern alopecia while girls have a more diffuse pattern alopecia.

There are other genetic syndromes that can be associated with early onset androgenetic alopecia including trisomy 21 (Down's sndrome), Marie Unna hypotrichosis, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

There are more significant symptoms other than baldness for individuals with infantile geroderma, Marie-Unna hypotrichosis, or trisomy 21 including dwarfism and mental retardation.
