Androgen
and estrogen metabolism
The metabolism of androgens and estrogens involves a very complex
pathway. Below is a summary diagram of the different hormone substrate
conversions that can occur. As you can see the metabolism of androgens
and estrognes is exremely complicated. This complexity means it
is very difficult to predict development of androgenetic alopecia
in individuals based on simple hormone analyses.
