Cholestrol can be converted to dihydrotestosterone through a multi
step process as shown the diagram below. It has not been shown that
high cholestrol levels contribute to pattern baldness, but the biochemistry
of the steroid conversion pathway suggests that reduction of cholestrol
levels may be an appropriate precaution.
