Can a man develop a female pattern of baldness

Yes sometimes. While almost all men develop a distinct pattern of hair loss with a recession of the frontal hairline and/or the development of a a bald patch on the vertex, some men have diffuse, all over androgenetic alopecia much like the female pattern.

The reason that a few men have a female pattern of hair loss is unknown but it is suspected that the diffuse hair loss may indicate a hormone ratio similar to that of female pattern baldness may be involved.
