How
can dabao be used to treat baldness
Dabao is better known by it commercial name Fabao 101.
it is widely advertised by various retailers on the Internet and
elsewhere. Fabao 101 is the mastermind of Dr. Zhuang-Guang Zhao
and Dr. Yoshikata Inaba in Tokyo, Japan. The lotion is extremely
popular in Japan and every so often it is covered by the western
news media, generally in a positive light. This compound is suggested
to work on unclogging pores and improving the quality of blood supply
to hair follicles thereby encouraging hair growth. The topical lotion
is an extract from the Dabao plant.
Surprisingly, this particular product does have a treatment trial
published in a medical journal that was funded by the manufacturers
of Dabao. The results of the published trial are summarized below
for you to make your own decision.
A randomized, double-blind trial was organized using 396 males
with androgenetic alopecia. The men took the Chinese herb Dabao
for six months and the effects were evaluated by counting the number
of hairs per unit area, asking for the subjective opinion of the
users and by semi quantitative analysis of before and after photographs
of the scalp.
Comparing Dabao and placebo groups after six months there was
an increase in the observed amount of hair; average 133 and 109
hairs respectively per a 5 cm2 marked area (a difference of 24 hairs
between the groups). Subjective responses from the men in the trial
suggested 42% of the Dabao users and 37% in placebo users reported
positive results (a 5% difference). The average score for the cosmetic
evaluation of before and after photographs on a scale of -10 to
+10 was +0.46 for Dabao users and +0.21 for placebo users. The researchers
concluded that Dabao does have a modes effect on the growth
of nonvellus hair.
