What
are the potential side effects of flutamide treatment
Like all antiandrogens, flutamide has the potential for adverse
effects on liver function. For this reason, regular monitoring of
liver function is usually conducted on women using flutamide and
any other oral antiandrogen. Other side effects are listed below.
Tiredness. Depression. Nausea and vomiting (rare). Changes in appetite.
Bowel changes. Diarrhea. Urine may turn amber or yellow-green in
color.
Gynecomastia (common). Galactorrhea (discharge from the nipple).
Edema (fluid retention). Thromboembolism (blood clots). Myocardial
infarction (heart attack - rare). Cholestatic hepatitis. Jaundice.
Blurred vision (rare). Reduced sperm counts. Elevated liver function
tests.
Adverse interactions with warfarin therapy have been reported.
