With
androgenetic alopecia, is it better to wash my hair every day
Some dermatologists recommend washing every day with androgenetic
alopecia. The oils produced by sebaceous glands are rich in testosterone
and DHT. There is no absolute proof, but some dermatologists think
removing this oil frequently may help somewhat in reducing DHT levels
around hair follicles.
Some dermatologists go as far as to recommend antidandruff shampoos
for occasional use. The ketoconazole in Nizoral shampoo is suggested
as a direct antiandrogen as well as being effective against dandruff.
