It contributes to the international hair research scene and organizes international

Cicatricial (scarring) alopecia refers to a group of rare disorders which destroy
the hair follicle and replace it with scar tissue, thereby causing permanent
hair loss. Founded in 2001, the Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation has
offices in Los Angeles, and works to access patients, the medical community
and the public through its website, Patient Conference and association with
leading researchers and clinicians. The Foundation's commitment to research
is reflected through participation in scientific meetings, education programs,
and its research program that provides grants to investigators around the world
who seek to enhance our knowledge about this difficult group of diseases.

credible, evidence-based information on hair diseases and hair loss. The Canadian
Hair Research Foundation is a research-focused organization dedicated to sustaining

in order to better inform interested individuals and provide improved care for
all those with hair disorders.

of the pacific rim. Its membership includes individuals located worldwide working

Alopecia Project
Alopecia Areata is not life threatening but it is life altering and that is
why the Children's Alopecia Project was incorporated as the only non-profit
directed specifically to children with this disease. Their goal is to generate
public awareness of the disease and to raise money for research and build Self-esteem
via support group participation for children and their parents.

Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS)
The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS) is a non
profit organization of professional plastic surgeons. Although it covers all
forms of plastic surgery, some members are hair transplant specialists. Brief

Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) is a non profit
voluntary organization of hair restoration specialists. It happens to share
the offices of the American Academy of Dermatology. It was founded in 1992 as
the first international society to promote continuing quality improvement and
education for professionals in the field of hair restoration surgery. A searchable
