Introduction

Hi! Welcome to keratin.com. This web site has grown considerably since its days as a two page spread away back in 1996! At that time I was a postgraduate student working on alopecia areata hair loss research. I first discovered the Internet (and the idiosyncrasies of Mosaic) late in 1995. While there were so many people looking for information about hair loss, there was very little available online. I decided I would add my contribution and this web site is the result!

To the best of the my ability, this web site aims to give unbiased information and support to those with all kinds of hair complaints. Some hair diseases are better understood than others, but this web site hopes to help people with both common and rare conditions. This web site is not a replacement for the counseling given by a professional dermatologist, rather it provides supplemental information that a dermatologist may be unable to provide due to time constraints on office consultations.

You can help keep this web site alive by advertising here. There are several options for potential advertisers to choose from as shown below.

Banner and skyscraper rotation - Cost per thousand (CPM)

This is a common method of buying advertising space on many web sites. You pay for each presentation of your advertisement. Your banner will shown in turn with other banners throughout the web site. Software ensures your advertisement is shown to the viewer in a random sequence with other advertisements. On keratin.com there are banners at the top and bottom of all the pages and on most pages there are also "skyscrapers" that run on the right of the browser window. Your advertisements can run in one, two or all three locations.

Popups and popunders

Keratin.com runs a limited number of popups and popunders. These are advertisements that open in separate windows when a visitor to keratin.com views a web page. If they advertisements show on top of the keratin.com window they are called popups.,If the advertisement stays behind the current window they are called popunders. Popups are usually quite small images or a few lines of text while a popunder may be much larger and may even show the front page of another web site. The number of popups or popunders is strictly rate limited on keratin.com such that no visitor should see more than 3 per user session and in every 24 hours.

Special arrangements

The web master is willing to entertain special requests from advertisers. Email details of your request and we can discuss options.
